The Canada-Japan Society will be hosting it's first Izakaya Night!

Come join us at Kingyo toronto (51B Winchester Street, Toronto) on Wed June 15, 2016 @ 6:30pm for an evening of delicious food and good company!

Kingyo will be serving us a customized set-course tasting menu for us, consisting of:

Stone bowl mushroom tofu (1pc/ person)
Garlic tuna tataki (2pcs/ person)
Beef tataki salad (1/3 portion of regular order)
Beef tongue (2 pcs/ person)
Chicken karaage (2 pcs/ person)
Ebi-Mayo (2 pcs/ person)

Monday, May 9th - CJS Private Tour of the ROM's New Exhibit: "A THIRD GENDER: BEAUTIFUL YOUTHS IN JAPANESE PRINTS"

The Canada Japan Society is proud to offer our members and guests a special behind the scenes tour of the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM)’s new woodblock print exhibit “A THIRD GENDER: BEAUTIFUL YOUTHS IN JAPANESE PRINTS”. The tour will be led by the exhibit’s curator Dr. Asato Ikeda  池田安里 and will take place on May 9^th at 4PM sharp.

Tickets are extremely limited so if you would like to go you must RSVP to markh@cjst.ca no later than COB May 8^th). 

Attendees simply purchase a regular admission to the ROM (valid for the entire day) and meet up at the feet of the dinosaur in the main lobby area at 3:45pm.  The tour will start at 4PM sharp so if you are late you will have to find us!

There will be a small nijikai after the tour as well at a close by location.  We will be limited to 15 seats for this, so please let Mark know in your RSVP if you plan on attending this as well.

Inaugural CJS Billiards Night – Tuesday, April 26th

And now for something completely different - Please join the Canada Japan Society's first ever billiards event! Whether you are a seasoned billiards pro, or just looking for an opportunity to meet up with other people and have a good time in a social setting different from the usual scene, please come on out.

Thursday, March 3rd, 2016 - March ICHIMOKUKAI at Manpuku!

Spring is almost here (well at least in Japan)….Please come out and keep warm with great Japanese food, drinks, and fun at the Canada Japan Society’s ICHIMOKUKAI!

 

Ichimokukai literally means the "first Thursday meeting" and since 1995 it has been the Canada Japan Society of Toronto's monthly social event, naturally on the first Thursday of every month. It is a great place to make new friends, practice your English and/or Japanese, informally network, learn more about life in Canada and Japan, and most of all have fun! Our attendees are usually around 50 percent Canadian and 50 percent Japanese, all with a common interest or connection with Japan. At IMK you will receive special food and drink discounts, get to talk to lots of interesting people, and have the chance to win some exciting door prizes.

Wednesday March 9th, 2016 - Community Event: JETAA Presents a the Canadian Premiere of TOHOKU TOMO

 

 

As 2016 marks the 5th year anniversary of 3/11, please join JETAA in their Canadian premiere screening of TOHOKU TOMO - a documentary telling the story of true friendship and commitment to Japan's recovery by the international community following the Great East Japan Earthquake.  Director Wesley Julian will be flying in from Chicago for the event, and will be participating in a Q&A panel following the film.  The screening will take place on Wednesday March 9th at the Revue Cinema in Toronto, and all profits will go to relief in the Tohoku community. #TTWeek
