The Japan Society, the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada and the Consulate-General of Japan are proud to present a lecture by Dr. Akio Takahara, "Domestic Factors in China's External Policy: The Case of Japan-China Relations" on Tuesday, October 29th at the offices of McMillan LLP.
Dr. Akio Takahara is Professor, Graduate School of Law and Politics at the University of Tokyo, Secretary-General of the New Japan-China Friendship 21st Century Committee and Senior Researcher at Tokyo Foundation.
This presentation will discuss key domestic factors shaping China's current external policy, including intensive debates over the necessity and content of economic and policitcal reforms and people's dissatisfaction and anxiety about the flip side of China's rapid growth. Also to be discussed will be the situation over the Senkaku Islands, China's approach towards Japan over them and how the world should react to it.
