The CJS Movie Night: "DOING TIME"

The Canada Japan Society is proud to present a screening of Yoichi Sai's 2002 film "Doing Time" starring Tsutomu Yamazaki (Tampopo, Taxing Woman).

Adapted from the autobiographical manga by Kazuichi Hanawa it covers the three years that Hanawa spent in a Japanese prison for a weapons possession charge. Don't expect the violence and brutality so common to the prison film genre, "Doing Time" is a warm, insightful comedy/ drama about how people can adapt to even the most difficult circumstances.
