With the back to school season just staring, it's time for another Ichimokukai.
Ichimokukai (IMK) literally means the "first Thursday meeting" and since 1995 it has been the Canada Japan Society of Toronto's monthly social event, naturally on the first Thursday of every month. It is a great place to make new friends, practice your English and/or Japanese, informally network, learn more about life in Canada and Japan, and most of all have fun! Our attendees are usually around 50 percent Canadian and 50 percent Japanese, all with a common interest or connection with Japan. At IMK you will receive special food and drink discounts, get to talk to lots of interesting people, and have the chance to win some exciting door prizes.
We hope to see you there and please come early to ensure a good seat!

The Canada Japan Society welcomes the return of LIVE JAZZ to our long-running monthly Ichimokukai event at Manpuku!

This month we’ll have a special live performance by Hiro Suzuki. Hiro is a jazz guitarist from Kanagawa who began playing guitar at age 13, and drums at 15. During college, he played in the orchestra pit for several musicals, including Hairspray and Bye Bye Birdie. After winning a jazz competition for college students in Tokyo (2012), he taught guitar at Kurosawa Music School for over 3 years. He currently performs and teaches in Toronto.
We hope to see you there and please come early to ensure a good seat!
